Kathy found this postcard of the Raba Hotel in Gyor Hungary while she was going through boxes of pictures. I must have stayed at the Raba 70 times in my travels to Europe buying Pez. If time spent at the Raba were added up I approx. 1yr at the Raba Hotel in the 1990s.

The people who ran Pez International would have killed for the information that I stayed at the Raba. I picked the Raba because it was a very low key location and for the discretion of it's staff. the staff at the Raba was not just discrete about it's guests, they down right protected my anonymity while I was there. Nobody came near me without a discrete call asking approval.

People over the years have asked me if I miss all the worldwide travel. My answer is always no. What I do miss though is staying at the Raba Hotel in Gyor Hungary, the memories are very pleasant. I miss my evening walks down to the Pizza Hut in centrum, where the staff knew my order from memory.

It didn't hurt that The Yellow House was 1 mile due south and the pez plastics plant was 1 mile due west. If I ever traveled to Europe again it would be to spend a quiet week at the Raba Hotel in Gyor Hungary.

Bang Bang shoot em up

Try this Try that
To great surprise a few things stick

An imperfect messenger tries his best
Staring at the trees  for answers

You'd think by now I'd know
The hand of fate still controls me

This all started 25yrs ago
The day he broke the rules

How does something that small dictate the rest of your life
One move, one decision and you walk the road forever

Tell me a story daddy
A story of adventure about an anti-hero

Threats
We're gonna foreclose your home in 2 weeks
gotta be 3rd time I heard that one

Promises
EVERYTHING YOU EVER WANTED

Reality
Gonna reroof the house n I mean me
Well n Billy Dog if she can get up there
there will be pictures

Spectators are welcome when I'm roofing the house, garage n barn
Larry, you are welcome to watch or tell me I'm doing it wrong, but I need to do this myself
I've waited 3yrs to be able to do this, I need the personal win

Menards gave me a credit card, that was a mistake
just enough to buy almost all the roofing supplies

Dreams
Oh my, where to start

Time gone by, unsung heros

Pez Outlaw
Last nights dream was about Pez Outlaw taking off on the web.
I remember seeing the white boxes with bold print talking about Pez Outlaw.
One of the happiest dreams that I've had in a very long time.

The people from California were actually talking to me about promoting the content.
It was like heaven had opened up.

I'm not sure which part of my dream shocked me the most.
The fact that the people in California were actually talking to me or tha Pez Outlaw had taken off.

The people from California were suggesting new content.

I told them to just go ahead n handle it, so I could just sit back n enjoy it.

I've waited over a decade n a half for this day, even if it was a dream.
For the record, last night was the first n only time that I've had this dream.

Unfortunately I had to wake up, half expecting or hoping that the dream had been a premonition of coming events.
Like I said I woke up n the 3 years of waiting continues.

At least for a brief moment last night in my dreams it was real.
That's it just a dream.

Each n every day we are bombarded with all forms of unimportant things.
For one night the promises were real.

I realize at best if all my dreams came true it would only last about 3yrs.
The reason it's so important to me is so that I can finally close this chapter of my life.

********************************************

Einstein n me

Look who else wore fuzzy slippers.
Pez Outlaw friends.

What do I want? What's my goal?

My first goal is that Pez Outlaw and his story becomes a Hollywood Movie.

My second and no less important goal is that The Pez Outlaw Book is published by a major publishing house.

My third goal is that because of the movie and the book, Pez Corporation chooses to make reparations for the Half Million Dollar Fraud perpetrated by there company in 1998 that destroyed my company. By doing so writing there own ending to the Pez Outlaw story.

OTHER Smaller Goals.

Pez Outlaw Diary is purchased by a smaller publishing house and after some serious editing it too is released in paperback as a companion piece to the Bigger House Publication of The Pez Outlaw. I think that The Diary itself would make a nice contribution as support material to the movie and the bigger book.

I'd also like the notoriety of a big Pez Outlaw movie and book to make it possible for my children's book Princess Puddy n The Golden Bowl  to be published.

If all the stars align.

Somebody offers to publish
The Cereal Box Price Guide & The Barrel Book

That is my Dream.
Where we are at, at this very moment.
I'm contractually not allowed to say.
Yes I have signed 2 contracts with 2 different "people" both of them said SHUT UP!

So why do I keep writing?
I'll tell you why.
Contracts are only interest and intentions.
I can't help feeling that my writing which is after all why the interest was shown in the first place will be a possible deciding factor at some point.
Also, as the only promoter of the Pez Outlaw story for 15 years now I feel it's very important to keep the story alive on the internet to the best of my ability.

Just for giggles. Do any of you remember this ebay listing from a few years ago.

I'll let you in on a little secret. If a movie and a book are made I'll be lucky if I clear $75,000.00 combined/total. Reasons; agents 10%, Joshua 10%, Taxes up to 30%.

That is not me complaining, it's just a reality check for people who think you get rich if a book n movie are made about you. Add to that my mission statement concerning Pez Outlaw Diary and Notes From The Asylum. One word TRANSPARENCY or 3, spill your guts.

The reality of what I'd actually make off the movie and the book after 15 years work and the fact that what it's all about is that I actually lost 1/2 million dollars is why......

That's why I still hope that Pez Corporation decides it's in there best interest to make restitution. see
Chapter 13. Pez Outlaw Goes to Hollywood #pezoutla...

Realistically the Movie and the book are only the means to the end, motivators if you will. Encouragement to do the right thing.
That being a decision making process by Pez Corporation that ends in them deciding a better final chapter to the Pez Outlaw story needs to be written by them showing how the Pez Corporation of today is not the same as the one headed by Scott McWhinnie in 1998.

It's Kathy's Birthday today.
For 45yrs she has been my salvation.

After Pez Outlaw, I intend to retire.

Pez Corporate Fraud, Pez Color War, Restitution.

Pez Outlaw, 13.5 Rules #pezoutlaw

Now that we are nearing the finish line, I thought that the rules might be helpful to those that follow.

An idea is nothing but a lost opportunity without action.

Make all contributions of $19.95 payable to Happy Horse Asylum for the continued care of Pez Outlaw.

Rule #1. believe in your project with every fiber of your being, but you need to do the work.

Rule #2. The project needs to be the thing that excites you,  your idea of fun.

Rule #3. When you take on or start a project,  Do not let up. Push it  until it almost breaks, then push some more. You need to be relentless. Never give up, never give in. If at times you don't feel a little embarrassed by your efforts, you are holding back to much.

Rule #4.  Open your eyes to the possibility that what you think you were doing, is actually not what you were doing. Projects evolve, you must be able to recognize the change, be open to it. Example, I'm beginning to believe this whole outlaw project was just warmup for Notes From The Asylum.

Rule #5. Turn your deficits into assets. Poor no money, Ah but you have time, use it. Obsessive compulsive, a unique ability to focus like a laser on a project. etc.

Rule #6. Do not allow other peoples opinions of what you are doing to hold you back. You are a unique individual, that uniqueness may be your biggest asset. Try to be like everybody else, to fit in, seek & gain the approval of others, is a one way ticket to mediocrity.

Rule #7. Do things the way you like to do them. Try mimicking others or forcing yourself into habits or patterns that you find unnatural/foreign & you will not succeed. It's your project, from the beginning do it the way you like, otherwise you might as well be working for someone else.

Rule #8. Any project requires a great deal of effort, years & years of tedious work. Day after day, year after year of having faith in yourself. People are gonna think you are nuts. You must believe in yourself before anyone else can possibly believe in you or your project.

Rule #9. You need to hear what others are saying, yet not let it affect your resolve. Criticism is only to test your resolve. Be open to critique that helps the project, but do not let it stop the project. If your resolve is strong enough, you will outlast your last critique.

Rule #10. Trust yourself. If you are wrong you can change it later. Second guessing yourself will only slow progress & kill the uniqueness of your project.

Rule #11. Don't be fragile. If a few harsh words are gonna curl you up with a blankey, you are doomed. Thick skin is required. To be perfectly frank, don't give a hoot in hell what other people think of what you are doing. Only care what you think about what you are doing.

Rule #12. Do not gage the success of your project by the big picture. You need to find small wins along the way. This is going to take a long time.  10 years is nothin.

Rule #13. You are only crazy if you think you are crazy, other than that it's the rest of the world that is goofy. "Normal speak", march to your own drummer.

Rule #13.5 Never ask someone else if they think you are crazy. BIG, BIG MISTAKE.

Three things surprised me while writing Pez Outlaw Diary.

The first being that in 1998 buying pez for what became the Color Wars I spent $471,950.00 on Pez dispensers. The second surprise was that over an 11 year period of selling Pez I earned $4,530,899.00 in Gross Sales. Then lost it all in the Pez Color Wars. The third thing that surprised me when I realized it was. For approx 3 years by default I ran Pez USA. The reason I say this is for 2 to 3 years most of what Pez USA did was in direct response to what I was doing.

effects of one pivotal moment.
When life handed me my first pivotal choice, I said yes. I saw something & moved on it with everything I could muster. That first pivotal moment for me was in 1994 when I decided to start traveling to Europe buying Pez. Over 70 trips later the hobby had been changed, all hinging on that one decision to go. Decisions accompanied by actions impact events.

My second pivotal decision to go forward with the Holiday Colors also had a huge impact on myself n the Pez Hobby. This time, not so good.

The third big pivotal decision for me was when I decided to write Pez Outlaw Diary. Everybody told me. Don't write this, just let it go. How do you let something like this go, while you still have breath in your body? People still think I'm crazy to take on a major international corporation like Pez. What are they gonna do, destroy me? To late they already did that.

The 4th pivotal decision I've made is to start writing in Notes From The Asylum.
see below.

I'm very content with the decision I made to take on this fight. To be honest it would have been against my nature to otherwise.

At this point in this life my only redemption will be if they decide to make the Pez Outlaw movie.
If they make the movie, I was justified in the faith of almost 18 years of work.
Unfortunately, if they don't decide to make the movie, then I was nuts.

Housekeeping

You may or may not have noticed but since the inception of Notes From The Asylum I have deleted 100s of the posts.

I have a review process based strictly on views.
It used to be that 100 to 150 views n the post got deleted.
Now the bar is at over 250.
I can easily see the day that a post must achieve over 600 views in its first week to stay up.
The reason is simple, I only want well received posts for new viewers.

I would like to get to the point where a post must achieve 1,000 views in a month to stay up.

My hope is to create something worth viewing here at Notes From The Asylum.

I wanted to take a moment to explain.

Thanks for viewing.

Notes From The Asylum has achieved almost 1,400,000 views

Pez Outlaw, The Past Came Calling #pezoutlaw

Please Watch My Emmy Winning Movie, The Pez Outlaw on Amazon Prime & Peacock. 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. Best actor at SXSW.

It's My Story.

When I see Pez Outlaw though I don't mind as much.
He has responsibilities n things he must do, so God Bless.

It can be quite difficult to reconcile your past with who you are today.
I've been a drug addict, an alcoholic, a soldier and an Outlaw.
By far the thing that can upset who I am today most is my past as Pez Outlaw.

Pez Outlaw was flamboyant, outspoken and rich.
Yes Pez Outlaw thought he could do no wrong, he thought he was invincible.
In the end Pez Outlaw's overconfidence was his own undoing.

Pez Outlaw had to fall so that I could find myself again.
He and I are now two very different people, which is why I can at time find wearing his skin very disconcerting.

Recently I had to be Pez Outlaw for 5 days straight, it messed me up for the next 3 weeks.
People told me that they just avoided me because.........................................?
I recovered n apologized to everybody, everything in life has a cost.
That said, I will do my job n will pay whatever price.

I understand when people want to meet him, He was the biggest thing that ever hit the hobby of collecting Pez, literally on a global scale.
It also surprises me how after almost 2 decades how easy it is to slip into his skin.
The trick though is remembering who I really am and to not be influenced by him.

New n Improved Design For The Pez Outlaw Dispenser

 No-Changies, No Take Backs.

Jim Blaine stopped by yesterday to visit, What a wonderful person.
I don't see many people from the old days anymore n it was kinda nice to tell all my stories, because nobody around here really wants to hear them.
I told Jim that he'd done with great success something I never would have tried by putting on the Michigan Pez Convention.

During Jim Blaine's visit I told him many things.
Pez Outlaw was my salvation.
Pez Outlaw n I are 2 different people.
I needed to lose everything Pez Outlaw had accomplished so that I could find myself again.

If  I wrote Pez Outlaw over from scratch like this version never existed, that I would write it very differently.
The Diary though is just that a diary, a primal scream that helped me find my way home again.

Today I hate nobody, it just is what it is.

The questions.
What's my favorite pez dispenser? Easy Black Santa.
Pick  a person from that time you hold in high esteem. Easy again David Welch.
When I was at my lowest point David Welch sent me a very long email trying to comfort me n help with advice. David Welch is a stand up guy. Of couse I love Maryanne Kennedy but she's in a whole nother category.

Final note about Jim Blaine's visit.
Remember how I said I wouldn't look at the pictures you took or read your post, because it would mess my head up.
Well I looked n I read n it did indeed mess my head up.
Looking at pictures of me n reading your generous words was like driving by a car wreck, I just couldn't look away. smiley face.

It was wonderful to meet you Jim n I wish your endeavors all the best.
Like I told Jim, Pez Outlaw n I are 2 different people.
I might be the caretaker of all of Pez Outlaws stories but he also belongs to all of you in the pez community as well, because he would never have existed without all of you.
My deepest hope is that his memory will one day be cherished by all of you.

Me.
I'm just an old guy driving his tractor n talking to his friends, the horses n dogs.
FYI. Jim met Billy Dog n The Wild Bunch. That was the Cool Part.

Signed
The Yard Gnome

The only problem is that all of the attention threw me  off balance.
I looked at the pictures n read the posts n that was a big mistake.
I should've politely ignored both.

I know that every day I spend a great deal of time promoting Pez Outlaw, but I do it without internalizing him.
You might say I'm Pez Outlaws agent n PR team, but I maintain a separation from him.
Years ago I poured all of my adventures into the character Pez Outlaw so that he could carry all that n I could move on.
That careful separation gets blurred when I meet people that want to meet him.

Pez Outlaws life is to big for me to wear.
It's complicated.

What followed was a year of me/pez outlaw stepping out of my groove, including things I said i'd never do like attending a convention.
I gotta admit that it had its fun moments but I'm not sure that it gained much on the Pez Outlaw agenda.
Though I did make sure to walk away with as much video as I could generate.

One thing is certain though, facebook is not Pez Outlaws best forum for achieving his goals.
Pez Outlaw is a creature more suited to twitter, facebook people take his stance with Pez Corporation to personal, not understanding that you can love pez n not pez corporation.
That being said I'm going to greatly reduce my interactions on facebook.

I want a Do-Over, lets try this again.

Did you know that the pins you get at conventions originated from the 1st California Pez Convention.
I originated it n called it the CACDC, "I Think"?
Anyway when I put that convention on I was knee deep in creating Cloisonne Pins.
In all I created between 30 n 50,000 Cloisonne Pins, cartoon characters, pez type n advertising type.
Want to hear something crazy.
I had a hell of a time finding any kind of picture of the very 1st Pez Convention pin ever made.
All I could find was this drawing.

I called the 1st California pez convention the CA. CDC  (California Candy Dispenser Convention) because I did not want to nor did I talk to Pez Corporation in any way shape or form about the Convention.
But the CA. CDC was the 1st pez convention held in California and the very 1st pez convention pin ever given away at a convention was mine at the CA. CDC in 1995..

Oh my god I just realized that that convention was almost a quarter century ago. Time hits me like a ton of bricks now. After working with tunnel vision on pez outlaw for almost 2 decades I poke my head up every so often n get smacked by the passage of time.

Pez Outlaw, Inoculating Against Celebrity #pezoutlaw

Please Watch My Emmy Winning Movie, The Pez Outlaw on Amazon Prime & Peacock. 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. Best actor at SXSW.

It's My Story.

I've always understood that if you seek to rise from the crowd, you become a target.
I've already been knocked down once when I dared to stand.
If I get a second chance, lets hope I've leaned to duck.

People who are condemned to mediocrity or failure need to find a reason or consolation for why you rose n no matter how hard they try, they can not. Some form of consolation. Therefore you must have cheated, been dishonest or simply are not a good person.

Mediocrity demands a tethered Goat.
Think I'm overly harsh? Look at all the examples of the mighty who fall n the glee that there decent is gossiped about.

That is precisely why when I started writing Pez Outlaw Diary I knew I had better expose my own skeletons myself. I knew that if I did not disclose everything myself, that the very second I achieved anything with Pez Outlaw Diary somebody would come along wishing to grab some limelight by telling tales.

So I wrote Chapter 11. Crazy Is Easy If You Are Motivated, S... . I knew that no matter how embarrassing my past might be, I wanted to achieve whatever was possible only with it being all out there, every step of the way.

What I did not figure into my reasoning was that CRAZY would become part of the persona of Pez Outlaw. Crazy became that part that was interesting n made him tick. Crazy is now an integral part of the Pez Outlaw brand.

Political strategists will always advise, get it all out there early, so that it can become old news.
The newer trend is to own it. Don't let others bully you with it.
So Pez Outlaw is Crazy. Yes of course he is, what's your point?

You used Heroin when you were a young man. Yes, what's your question?
Did you use other drugs as a young man? Yes, everything I could get my hands on.
Were you ever diagnosed as a schizophrenic? Yes, among other things, yes.
Have you ever been in jail? Yes, 30 days maximum security.

I've been told that very soon my life will be in the spotlight.
I figured I better highlight my negatives again before somebody else does.
To say the least, I am not a perfect person.
I strive to change, be better.

The Good n the bad, I am Pez Outlaw.

I tell you everything, sometimes until it bleeds.
Example, did you ever stick your hand into a HOT Fry pan on the stove? Yes.
Sometimes there is no good WHY! Just what happened.
Over the last 20yrs I've learned how to focus n use my crazy to my benefit.

The above story/incident happened shortly after I got the boot from The Marine Corps for being crazy.
The last few years I've kinda wonder why the USMC felt no responsibility or care at all about the condition that they sent me back into the world after breaking me down to remold.
I received no help, no benefits of any kind n in a lot of ways not even allowed to say that I was in the Marine Corps.
Those V.A. Home loans no way buddy.

After Pez Outlaw, I intend to retire.

Fame for Pez Outlaw, obscurity for me #pezoutlaw

Please Watch My Emmy Winning Movie, The Pez Outlaw on Amazon Prime & Peacock. 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. Best actor at SXSW.

It's My Story.

ebay link to Pez Outlaw Collectibles.

My reward will be his success.

Whenever I want to move on from something I don't like or that was pointless, I throw dirt on it.
Throwing dirt on something is a figurative statement to me.
Throw dirt on it = bury it with an avalanche of posts.

Recently I had a talk with a person from the past, as in my past life.
I had high hopes that this conversation, might be informative or at the very least controversial.
Even bad press is press n notoriety is or can be forward motion.

No other way to say it, It was a disappointment.
To be honest I'm not clear what the person was searching for.
Either way it deviated from my prime objective, which is the promotion of Pez Outlaw.

I steal 2-3hrs of every day to push my agenda.
I know how awful that sounds, but I set this goal over a decade ago n I refuse to deviate until I succeed.
So when a pursuit/conversation cuts to deeply into that 2-3hrs without any visible gain I just can't afford it.

I've told you that I have zero money, which means time is my currency.
None of us are truly poor, we just have different assets.
When I lost everything n could not buy a solution to my predicament I realized my new asset/weapon was the Internet n that time was what I had to spend to achieve my goals.

I just can't get bogged down in long trips down memory lane unless they move the Pez Outlaw agenda forward.
I didn't come to the Internet to find relationships, I came here to give Pez Outlaw a voice.
So what appears interesting to others is sometimes only a waste of my most precious commodity, Time.

Look, I've told you I'm a Hermit n this is not gonna change.
Truth is even after I achieve my goals, this is actually only gonna get worse.
My dream is fame for Pez Outlaw n obscurity for myself.

Johanne said "You like to sell fast, I like to sell slow. We will see who wins."
To that I say, "He who writes the history of the event wins."
I'm very single minded in my goals, you would be correct to say I have tunnel vision on my goals to the exclusion of everything else. Everything.

Branded with personal defects as deficits that I now use as my strengths.
I'm an alphabet soup of crazy: schizophrenic, bipolar, ADD, compulsive obsessive etc.
These are my assets now, I have focused these flaws into my goal of making Pez Outlaw a success.

A week ago the news was not good n I think you could tell I was no longer on my game.
Well that's over, no matter what the news is at any step of my journey, as long as I have breath I will not stop in my pursuit of promoting the Pez Outlaw story.

I have no choice but success.
Once Pez Outlaw is finished, then I can rest.
Hopefully that rest includes a mountain of Bank Run/dirt with stones n my tractor.

I seek obscurity but I want Pez Outlaw to have his Fame.
I'm schizophrenic, so of course this is possible.
It wouldn't be the first time that I threw someone outa my mind.
I do it all the time, the real problem is keeping them out.

That friends is how you throw dirt on something.
Meanwhile, I've got $4.37 in my account, but I'm rich with time.
Yes I keep score, if I didn't Rudy/dog would haunt me.

Which answers your other question.
Do you care what anyone thinks of you.
Yes, I care what my dogs think of me.

To all the folks on twitter trying to sell me services.
I've got $4.37 in my account.
Poor, you've sunk a dry hole.

Take a really good look at my profile pic.
Twitter folks, Do you really think you can manage that?
The Best have tried.

Each day being compulsive obsessive there are 3 goal, goals within goals.
1. view count for opening post.
2. daily view count 1,000-1,500.
3. Lifetime view count must pass the next thousand.

Sorry for going on.
A post must open at 200 views.
We're good now.

After Pez Outlaw, I intend to retire.
